- Hypnosis can be an effective tool in enhancing: athletic
performance and concentration, public speaking, study skills, wellness,
stress management, lowered pain perception, smoking cessation, and weight
management, as well as many other issues. Listed below are areas in
which I have specific interests and experience:
-
- Stress Management
-
I returned to college as an adult and completed a BA in MIS at the
University of Oklahoma. I carried a full load each semester - all
while working full-time and with a young child and husband at home. Stress - and it's impact on quality of life - is something with which I am
very familiar! Working with individuals in the military and with those
in the fast-paced,
competitive world of information technology has also given me the opportunity to
see some of the worst impacts that stress can have on weight management, fear
of failure, job insecurities, self-esteem issues, etc.
-
-
Whether working in the world of information technology - or elsewhere -
it seems that everyone is working harder, longer, and with many more
complications in our daily lives than ever. Many
of us fail to get the necessary sleep we need at night to recharge our
batteries. We push on and on, faster and faster, telling ourselves
that tomorrow we will take better care of ourselves. And we
wonder why we have so many aches and pains, and are so TIRED all the time!
Hypnosis can help you refocus your energies on those things that are most
important to you - and thus reduce unhealthy stress. Do you really want to
wait any longer?
-
- Smoking Cessation
- Many people smoke in the belief it will help them stay slender.
Considering the statistics for smoke-related illness that is a pretty poor
trade-off! Are you ready to put the money you have been spending on
cigarettes back in your pocket for something more fun? AND keep your
weight from increasing? Hypnosis has helped thousands accomplish these
goals!
- End of Life Issues
- There are unique stresses for individuals who are facing their own
mortality, or that of a loved one or beloved pet. Many times people
are concerned about strained relationships, finances and the struggles with
the illness itself. People can become sad or afraid and are often
isolated as friends and family members continue on with the needs of their
own daily existence. Hypnosis can help in many ways that are often
surprising to people in this situation.

- How Many Sessions Will it
Take
- Until we work together, we will not know exactly. Some people find that a single session and then
continued reinforcement with a CD created for their specific situation works
very well. However, most find that three to five sessions are best.
-
- Because each person is different - I do not sell
you a "package" of sessions. Instead, we work together to find the
optimum sessions for you. While I will, in
many cases, provide you with CDs to complement our work together - you will
never be placed in a room to just listen to a CD! In every session, I
will be working directly with you! I use a combination approach of guided
imagery and direct suggestions.
*If, after 3 sessions for any one issue
it appears that progress is not being made, we will reassess together whether or
not it is appropriate to continue hypnosis. Most important to me is that you get
the assistance you need to meet your personal goals - whether through my
services or through the help of others.
What if I am Under a Doctor's Care for My
Specific Condition?
- Hypnosis services, in themselves, cannot harm. However,
hypnosis services are never a substitute for the prescribed care of a
physician, mental health practitioner, other recognized health professional, or specially trained and/or ordained
spiritual leader.
-
- Your quality of life is of paramount concern to me! If you are under
a doctor's care for a specific health problem, and desire to try hypnosis as a
complement to your current therapy, I will require that you bring me a
referral from your physician. Forms are available on request.
With your permission, I will
contact and then work closely with your physician to be certain our work
together is an appropriate part of your health practitioner's overall plan for you.
Since the early 1950's, the medical community has recognized hypnosis as a
valid, useful, and appropriate complement to the therapeutic care plans for
their clients. Thus, it is not at all unusual for medical or mental health professionals to encourage their clients to use
hypnosis for smoking cessation, and other
quality of life issues. I will be very happy to talk with you (or your
physician) about your specific situation to determine appropriate steps for
our hypnosis work.
