Open2HypnosisMy name is Sherry Bradford. I have lived and worked in the Dallas area since 1999. Prior to that, I spent 30 years as an employee at the University of Oklahoma. For the last 15 of those years, I served as an Academic Counselor to Graduate Students. Many of those students were active duty military completing degrees while deployed overseas. Talk about stress - try having a family, being a full time student - AND military deployment to a foreign country! Working with these students was the start of my quest to find a way to help people better manage the many competing demands of our busy world. In addition to my work with students, I have been involved directly and indirectly with arts and crafts for many years. My husband is a professional artist. You might imagine that as a stress-free life - but you would be mistaken. Artists face the threat of - or actual - personal and artistic rejection each time they prepare a piece of work for public view. Some never get past that fear to become the artists they were meant to be. I was one of those - and this group of people was added to the growing list of those I knew I was meant to help find a more satisfying life. In my search for a way to combine my concern for people dealing with stress and self-esteem issues, my dearest friend began a battle for life against breast cancer. One evening I joined her at Gilda's Club to listen to a hypnotist talk about using this ancient technique to improve the quality of life for those battling cancer. From that moment forward I began to research hypnosis. Ultimately I chose to become a Certified Consulting Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists. This organization, one of the oldest in the nation, has some of the finest training and continuing education programs for hypnotists. By requiring that we continue our education - NGH helps its members become and remain among the best trained practitioners of hypnosis.
